Abbey Bominable is the daughter of the Yeti. She was
introduced quite early in the franchise. She is a foreign student, an
inhabitant of the Himalaya mountain range but has traveled to Monster High on
request of Headless Headmistress.
This pretty much describes her character : she has hard time
adjusting to the school and the country. As she came from a very cold and high
mountain so she doesn't speack too much to save oxygen. She has a special
necklace that keeps her from heat. On most of the doll version they kept that
necklace with a various range of coulors and I have to say that I like this
attention to detail.
In the movies she is 16 and born the 14th of december.
Her besties are Franckie and Lagoona and has kind of a story
with Heath Burns, you know like attracted opposites. She has a little Mammoth
pet named shiver. On the pic below she is on Nokk, Elsa's horse from Frozen,
and I think it's a pretty good match !
Her first doll came out in 2011.
Before reboot we have 14 versions of this doll and 3 fashion packs : Basics, Skull Shores, Dead Tired, I <3 Fashion, Roller Maze, Dot Dead Gorgeous, Ghoules Rules, Picture Day, Scaris, Classroom, Music Festival, 13 Wishes, Art Class, Coffin Bean, Sweet Screams and Geek Shriek.
Then we have one adult collector doll and I think only two reboot versions : the Party Ghouls and welcome to Monster High. But I might be missing some of the reboots because I didn't like what Mattel had done with them after the reboot and they kinda lost me... Even if I have to admit reboot Abbey is quite cool.
As far as I remember, she was in two packs. In Dot Dead Gorgeous she came with Draculaura and Ghoulia rather than with her two besties... I guess three blue/green dolls together wasn't selling enouth for mattel, sadly. She also came in a two pack with Heath and some accessories (Classeroom).
I think Shiver came only with her basic version.
I currently own two versions of Abbey : first wave (on right) and Music Festival. But as it is a doll I really like, I've also had tree other versions of her.
In her original version she is a quite basic doll. Her mold is classic MH body only covered in glitter, tons of glitter. It gives her a quite weird texture. Reboot version is a bit more interesting as she has some fur molded details on arms and feet, but I don' have any to compare.
She have very big hands, their sculpt is pretty amasing with claws and everything.
The glitter don't fell of the doll, witch is a relief when redressing her. For a custom thought, it's not easy to remove.
I've seen lots of yellowed Abby, I think it's a consequence of this glue everywhere on her body. As you can see, my basic Abbey has a bit changed of coulor.
Her hair is mostly white with pink, purple and blue straights that vary a little in the different lines.
Her basic version has tinsels. It's the only one with Ghouls Rules I think. I can't say for Ghouls Rules but for her basic version, it's pretty good looking and quite heavy, not like the tiny crappy tinsels that get tangled we have most of the time... My first wave is stored in a bag for quite long now and still good looking.
In most of her versions she has straight long hair, and those two don't make an exception. Roller maze Abbey has very short white hair and 13 wishes has beautifull curls.
Yes I made my dolls panties. I like details, ok? And you won't go naked under your clothes? Or if so, I really don't wanna know !
Her face mold is very special. She has a very prominent jaws with big lips and little painted teeth. It is glittered as her body. Later versions came with less glitter, witch looks waaaaay better in pics !
Basic Abbey come with this outfit. Her boots are amazingly detailed. It's even a bit sad to hide them. The fur is feeling very soft and she has a tiny purse on her belt. Her earings are different and winter themed, like for most of her dolls.
I don't know if it's only mine or if all have this problem but her tights are too shorts to come to her waist. The dress hide it but it doesn't allow her to sit properly and is a bit risky for the tights themselves.
First wave also have her legs tight with elastics, witch tends to get floppy with the time... I really prefer new articulations Mattel's make.
This is my music festival outfit. Sadly she normaly has a VIM (for Very Important Monster) pass instead of her usual necklace, so I gave her her crystal necklace to keep her cold, you know...
I love the icy details on the belt and shoes. The braclet on shoes can be removed. The top and skirt are printed both sides. The top is a bit hard to put on, especially with the glitter, has ity is not fully open in the back. I love the coulours and print they choose for this doll, it's quite unusual.
My MF Abbey also borrowed a LOL OMG Guitar, a Barbie bracelet and a purse !
And as bonus, here is my customised Abbey ! I hope you'll enjoy !
